SUMMARY:Effective Writing Instruction for Adolescent Writers Part 1
DESCRIPTION:Part 1: Understanding the Adolescent Writer and Strengthening Foundational Skills \nThis session will introduce writing as a multicomponent\, developmental process through a levels-of-language lens\, with attention to word-\, sentence-\, and discourse-level demands. Participants will examine how writing develops across these levels and how the Interactive Dynamic Literacy model (Kim\, 2020) provides a coherent framework for understanding the reciprocal relationship between writing and reading. The session will also explore what proficient writing looks like in secondary settings and consider how difficulties at one level of language may constrain performance at others. Emphasis will be placed on using this framework to guide instructional priorities and better understand why many adolescent writers continue to struggle. \n  \nRegister Here: Effective Writing Instruction for Adolescent Writers\, Part I

SUMMARY:Effective Writing Instruction for Adolescent Writers Part II
DESCRIPTION:Part 2: Supporting Adolescent Extended Writing: From Ideas to Coherent Expression \nThis session focuses on helping adolescent writers plan\, organize\, develop\, and revise ideas in extended writing. Participants will examine structured\, evidence-based approaches such as Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD)\, explicit modeling\, scaffolded practice\, and gradual release of responsibility. The session will also explore how writing expectations vary across disciplines and how instruction can be adapted to support content-area writing. Throughout the session\, participants will consider how word- and sentence-level foundations can be integrated with strategy-based instruction to promote writing that is coherent\, organized\, precise\, and purposeful. \n  \nRegister Here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/jgisnLhWTYi2FntKlEJQOg#/registration
