Welcome to Talk With Me Baby @ Work: A Workplace Benefit That Builds Brains

One of the most powerful things you can do for your baby doesn’t require special tools or training; it simply starts with your voice.

In the first three years of life, a baby’s brain grows faster than at any other time. Each time you talk, sing, read, or respond to your baby’s coos and smiles, you’re doing more than sharing a moment—you’re helping build the brain connections that support learning, reading, and lifelong health.

These early experiences matter even before birth and continue shaping a child’s development from the third trimester through third grade.

Talk With Me Baby (TWMB) helps parents and caregivers turn everyday moments into powerful opportunities for growth. By talking, reading, singing, and playing with babies, families help build the strong foundation children need to thrive.

Here in Atlanta, we’re working to make this a shared commitment from the very beginning. When every parent knows the power of their voice and every baby grows up surrounded by language, we can help shape a brighter future for children across our city.

An independent evaluation by the Brazelton Touchpoints Center at Grady Health System found lasting impact from Talk With Me Baby. Five years after implementation, interviews with 1,400 families and 178 healthcare professionals showed strong, sustained behavior change—91% of parents and 98% of providers reported continuing to use Talk With Me Baby practices.

A child’s world is like an ecosystem, and language sits at the center. When caring adults intentionally surround children with rich conversation, they support the brain’s rapid early growth and help build the foundation for literacy—the greatest driver of opportunity.

Every time you talk, read, sing, and play with your child, you are building the brain connections that support language and future learning. Looking for ideas? TWMB@W gives families the knowledge, confidence, and strategies to transform everyday moments—diaper changes, snack time, bedtime stories—into powerful opportunities for brain and language growth.
