The Rollins Center for Language & Literacy partners with Georgia’s Department of Early Care and Learning to support the Bilingual Summer Transition Program (STP) for rising Spanish-speaking Pre-K children.
Through a planned language approach, monolingual and bilingual teachers integrate the strategic use of Spanish and additional supports to support early language and literacy development. Exposure to a bilingual learning environment represents a net linguistic gain for young preschool dual language learners: they maintain and develop their first language while acquiring English skills.

We’ve collected the essential tools and resources for the Bilingual Rising PreK program here. Each week the curriculum is anchored around a focus book. The focus books connect to a series of relevant inquiry questions: Who am I? Why am I special? Who is special to me? How can I thrive when things are new and different?
