Actualize Literacy and
Justice For All

Learning is only possible only when we ensure that our schools and communities are places where every child — from birth through adolescence –knows they’re safe and connected

Our Science-Based Approaches Make It Possible For Every Child To Find Their Voice.

Decades of research tell us how children learn to read, and why so many struggle. The Science of Reading shows that all students benefit from explicit instruction.

Structured Literacy ensures that every child has access to the instruction they need to become a reader.

Language & Literacy Frameworks

Our approach to implementation is informed by decades of
interdisciplinary research. We’ve operationalized the science
into drivers that support both early learning and Pre-K-5
learning environments.
In the early learning space, we utilize the 9 Elements of a
Language-Centered Ecosystem and the Ecosystem
Construction Measure (ECM) to help site-based educators
and leaders reflect on their ability to create and maintain a
language and literacy-focused environment that lays the
foundation for literacy. This Ecosystem, grounded in
language and relationships, is a comprehensive approach to
literacy that goes beyond a focus on reading instruction only,
while building a strong foundation for literacy.
In the Pre-K-5 space, our work focuses on system-level
drivers of change that lead to Equitable Literacy Outcomes.
With radical change in student outcomes as our north star,
our model supports district-level leaders, school-based
leaders, teachers, and support staff in creating sustainable
changes within their systems that would support structured
literacy practices in the classroom.

We recognize that professional development alonedoes
not lead to transformational change. Coaching
through modeling, guided practice, and targeted
feedback ensures effective and lasting implementation
of evidence-based practices. Grounded in student data
and classroom observations, our coaching approach
engages leaders and educators in analyzing data, setting
priorities, and developing actionable plans that drive
measurable improvements in language and literacy
outcomes. By aligning coaching with data informed
decision making, we build scalable and sustainable
systems that create lasting impact for children and
educators.

What Educators Are Saying

Superintendant

Marrietta City Schools

As both superintendent and a parent in Marietta City Schools (MCS), I am grateful for the long-standing partnership between our district and the Rollins Center. Educators have continued to gain clarity and insight about the critically important role of literacy in a child’s development and trajectory toward success in school and life.
