Now, more than ever, our schools must become sanctuaries for our children. Feeling safe is a prerequisite to all learning. Advances in science demand changes in our schools – from the classroom to the administration – to create understanding, empathetic and responsive environments which will allow all our children to access a life of self-determination.

After her talk, Dr. Boynton-Jarrett will join Dr. Ryan Lee-James, the Speech School’s Chief Academic Officer, for a lively conversation about how to make Atlanta an even better place to raise our children – where every classroom is a joyful place for children to learn and every teacher has the chance to be their best selves. We invite you to join us in person. Seating is limited to Renée Boynton-Jarrett, MD, ScD 300 people, so register early. We will also stream the event on Cox Campus. Join us!

The evening sets the stage for the launch of two new free online courses on our Cox Campus: Implicit Bias in Education, Birth through 3rd Grade and Trauma-informed Practice.

Taken together, these courses will fundamentally change what everyone should expect to support safer spaces for learning and literacy in their classrooms and communities.
